The Halo Effect and Leadership

I love your delusion of absolute performance because performance is not absolute. It's affected by the performance of others. The problem that we often have with leadership, and this comes back to the Halo Effect, show me a successful company. And I don't feel bad standing up in front of a group and saying, look, here's some things that are important for leaders to do. But we must be clear that if all we are doing is making inferences about what is a good or not good leader based on the results of the company, we do not have an independently valid concept.
