The Textual Critic Is Trying to Get the Best Texts of Existing Manuscripts

The tectual critic examines the existent manuscripts of biblical books, biblical materials. He endeavors to discover the best manuscripts that most closely resemble what the original autographs would have said. There are two criteria used in such a process: One is to try to relate the different texts that you find genealogically. The other approach is a subjective literary approach, stressing internal evidence, not external evidence.
