The Importance of Death in the Circus

I saw grown men having to shoot elephants in the head. It was a very brutal lifestyle, and on top of that, trapeze artists falling to their deaths. I was used to death. But seeing it close up like that, actually seeing someone laid out on the gurney, it's very different indeed. And it brings a sort of peace to true... I mean, it comes to us all.
