Indulging a Woman Is a Higher Calling Than Marriage
In the original poem, ta i love, which to day we would call it flirtation. The woman is clearly, in addition to being beautiful, she is charming and witty. She tries to seduce gawayne but he has to resist these advances. A lot of courtly literature even suggested that indulging a woman, even if it violates some one's marriage bonds, is still the better, more noble thing to do.
