The Importance of App-Based Scooters and Bike Rentals

In the city that I live, we had bikes that you could rent for an app for a while. And then when they disappeared, it moved over to e-scooters using the same sort of function. As these are popping up in more cities around the world, do you think that's actually a practical solution? Is that helping or is this looking the wrong way for improvements?
