Air New Zealand 901 was a sightseeing flight on November 28, 1979. The plane was to depart from Auckland International Airport and fly over Antarctica for a few hours. This sort of flight typically lasted about 11 hours or so. In today's money, it would cost about $1,300 New Zealand dollars which is a little more than $900 US dollars.
