Low frequencies travel faster through air because it is stronger than high frequency which dissipates quicker. Would that have not worked for smaller animals or animals that didn't live in herds? Like if you're a solitary group of animals, could you not do that sort of loud, long distance communication because you're just going to get eaten? Yeah. Absolutely.
