The Problem With NHS Management
NHS England is a sprawling mess of pseudo responsibilities, full of senior managers without either clear purpose or any achievements to their name. Far from overbearing management, there are whole functions which could be done away with without anybody noticing. Rawls such as only being able to advertise vacancies on the unusable NHS jobs website makes it almost impossible to attract talent from outside the organization. In an organization like the NHS, which has to have a high degree of political accountability, poor quality management at the centre is absolutely disastrous. If anything, NHS management needs investment in quality and a constructive debate about how we structure our management workforce. So there we are. There's a view from within, which I think
