There's a lot of sort of silent communication going on. And when it comes to direct communication, be people, we teach the use of honest open questions. Most of us very skilled in asking questions that are really little speeches in disguisea my favor example is, have you thought about seeing a serapist? Is not an honest open question, but if i ask,. has anything like this ever happened to you before? I'm given a chance to reach deeper in myself for what the response might be. Adverse arealislike no weight, i let me explain myself fuller, more fully, but with an honest, open question.
Have you ever had someone come to you with a dilemma, but when you start to share your advice, they resist your every suggestion? The relationship gets more strained. You leave feeling frustrated, but when you open up you immediately get advice and feel more alone and more confused than you were before. For this episode, I have invited one of my heroes, Parker J. Palmer, to share a story or two, some of the things he has learned over decades and some actionable advice. By the end of this episode, you will be better able to help people unravel their confusion and find the right way forward.
