The Early Settlement in Jerusalem
In the Mediterranean world and the Near East, prehistoric periods have typically been divided into a sequence called the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age. When we talk about the earliest settlement in Jerusalem, we are talking about settlement in these prehistoric periods. The original settlement in Jerusalem is on a small hill that lies to the south of the Old City and is completely outside the walls today.
