Introduction
In July 1167 the mood inside Sir Epped Castle is tense, the garrison are preparing to face an attack. This castle belongs to King Louis VII of France and the attack is coming from none other than Henry Plantagenet. After years of peace the two kings are now at war. When some of Henry's subjects in Normandy recently rebelled over a succession dispute,. Louis took their side and invaded Plantagenet lands. So, Henry is striking back, with an assault on Shonal. And it's a bold gambit because this castle is one of Louis' key military bases.
