Social media self-promotion has kind of ended up going down its own rabbit hole if that's not really a phrase but I'll go back and I think it's left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths like it doesn't necessarily do what people thought it was going to do when the likes of Twitter and Facebook first appeared. The emergence of stuff like sub-stack where it's it is a lot more personable from the off and it kind of deliberately is smaller scale which doesn't mean it can't end up being widely successful, he says. "I'm doing this thing and it will appeal to very particular type of people yeah"
