I think one of the things that's really not understood, especially if you're coming to politics from say the 70s on, the 80s on, is the reason Democrats did so well with working class voters. It wasn't just what they were doing. There was an actual grassroots democratic party and I think it's very difficult for any politician to get credit for policy right now because people don't believe politicians.
