As industrialization comes in, the value of slave labor declines. And that leads to increases in productivity and the removal or the ending of slave labor. Washing machines are a great example because they viscerally drive home the point. People don't even enjoy doing their laundry in the machine that handles 90%, 99% of the grunt work.
