Catholic guilt can in fact be understood sometimes as a kind of servile fear. Most directly that fear should be most of the time that fear properly, right, should be directed about hell. So I confess my sins. This is a good motive for the confession of sin. It's not a perfect motive, but it's good, right? As we often say in technical language, imperfect contrition suffices,. You don't do you have to mean your salary with every fiber of your heart? No, but you have to say you're sorry.
