RFK said in the 1960s that who knows perhaps in 40 years there could even be a black president. But Baldwin said that everyone in Harlem just laughed and shook their heads when they heard that. Because here is Bobbie Kennedy, an Irish Catholic whose people only started arriving in the US in the 1850s or so. And already his brother John F. Kennedy has been president.
