The Pros and Cons of a Direct Drive Turntable
There are three different styles of drives on turntables: belt drive, rim drive and direct drive. Each system has its pros and cons; I personally like direct drive the best. We've got a guy who reviewed our high end table that downgraded it to a belt drive because he felt they sounded better. The belt drive is very reliable in the sense of use, need a properly machine pulley, properly machine platter and an accurate belt.
