Cambodian Prince Sienoch tried to get support from both sides of the Vietnam War. If he went too strong towards the North Vietnamese side, that would look like Cambodia wasn't neutral at all and was in fact using the communist side. Less than six months after this interview was given, his own parliament voted unanimously to overthrow him while he was on holiday in Paris. The new government had become fed up with some of Sienoch's domestic policies, as well as his stance toward the communists.
