Every five years you need the right stuff from scratch period. No matter how good your old thing is as you add little improvements and patches it slowly becomes tangled together. We're building a risk-fied processor, a fairly high-end one. I told them it would be unbelievable to be great if we found 90, 95, maybe 99% of the bugs at component level instead of at the CPU integration level.
