We cut swastika flags into pieces and used white bed sheets to make red cross flags, which we put on the lorries. It's not clear how many German children were part of Kindelan Feschikung because many documents were destroyed at the end of the war. Gunther Stoppe: I saw a giganticly long goods train loaded with horses being hit, and the horses pointed out of the burning train in mortal fear across the wrecked train tracks. For me, that was the first time that I experienced death. And that's when I said goodbye to my childhood beliefs. I thought there's no God"
