Emotions and Emotional Engagement in Fieldwork
Emotions can be both an analytical tool for the study of migration but also part of the methodological method. I was simultaneously a researcher, a friend, an attentive listener, a stranger, sometimes I was even a sister to some extent my emotional involvement helped to overstep or even to deconstruct to destroy the asymmetries which separate the ethnographer and the informants reciprocity affections closeness, friendship, trust, mutual understanding are helpful tools in field work. Being affected became a tool for investigation and also to produce a more realistic and more pragmatic knowledge.
