"Kids As Commodities"

Byline Podcast

00:00

Introduction

The Byline Times podcast is what the papers don't say. This time, it's time to stop treating kids as commodities. We're talking about outsourcing of children's homes to private companies. The evidence shows that profit-making firms generally provide a worse service than local authorities do and are more likely to move youngsters away from their family networks. Dr Anders Bak Mortensen from Oxford University's Department for Social Policy and Intervention will give his views. And we'll hear from Martin Barrow who runs the Week in Care Mail English and is a foster carer.
