Joe Miller was an English actor who appeared in the cast of so Robert Howard's committee at Drury Lane in 1709 as Teague. After Miller's death, John Motley, himself, 1692 to 1750, brought out a book called Joe Miller's Jests or the Witz-Vader-Makim published under the pseudonym of Elijah Jenkins Esquire and it cost one shilling.
