The USNS L. Tannen: A Science Ship Named After a Star in the Draco Constellation

The story concerns the USNS L. Tannen, an ice breaking cargo vessel named after a star in the Draco constellation. It was used to discover the hypothetical El Tannen impact crater in 1981 via sediment cores collected earlier. The ship's work also provided plenty of evidence to support the continental drift theory.
