Burt says Kia met his wife Emegen while working as a stew man at an ether factory. The painting shows a young man stirring a huge steaming vat of something possibly ether. Since ether is highly flammable and it oxidizes when exposed to the air, cooking it in an open vat seems not only dangerous but impossible. Not only would the stew man pass out from the fumes, the whole kettle would probably explode. It does make a great story and a dramatic picture, but unless this is an alternate universe, these ether factory stories seem to have been created for the innies to enjoy.
