The Relationship Between Sign and Seal
In Genesis 15, there's something about the sign that's related to the promise. The idea is that God is kind of symbolically hanging up his war weapon. And what he's saying is, I've been after you, I've destroyed you, but now I'm laying aside my weapon. Covenants are always two-sided, okay? He owns us as his people and gives us covenant blessings.
