The Role of Ruth in the Christian and Jewish Canon

The book of Ruth belongs to a collection of writings that we call the festival scrolls or meggy loat, or five books that are associated with holidays. The first translation of the Bible was from Hebrew into Greek, in what we call the Septuagint. And when that translation took place, Ruth was moved. Why? Because the book begins in the days that the judges ruled and it ends with a genealogy that takes us to David.
