Constantine's Origin Story

Constantine was not some cynical atheist like cicero, who thought religion merely a necessary fiction. He genuinely believed that getting on the right side of the right god was the ticket to the top. Constantine promoted his own personal monotheism and told anyone who would listen that he was only doing what god was bidding. But christianity did not actually become the official religion of the roman empire until the reign of theodosius 50 years after constantine's death.
