What Is a Tesla Coil?

A Tesla coil is made up of simple, simple, complicated stuff. It works under the same principle as electromagnetic induction. Running like 10, 15,000 volts through it will generate a magnetic field. Nitrogen emission lines in our atmosphere are caused by high levels of potential energy. You'll hear nothing when you run them close to each other but then see random sparks.
