Women at this time aren't really in a position to organise themselves. They're just too busy looking after their families all of the time. And there's a dilemma in Chartism as well, isn't there? Which is that Chartists are often attacked for the involvement of women. This is seen as a mark of the corruption of Chartism and so they respond by saying it's industrialisation forcing women into workplace. It's the injustices of government that is making us leave our homes and our children to go out and campaign. And we would really much rather be back home.
