Google Is Not Using ZFS on the Back End
We're going to guess that they definitely aren't. It is probably not even a file system in a traditional sense, but the metadata servers where they have to keep the data about this file is over here on this server or whatever. Every object that exists is going to take up some space in that. And if the file happens to be really small, the amount of overhead might be more than that file. So it suggests that Google is not using ZFS on the back end then. Not that we really suspected they were, but no, we're going to guessing that they definitely weren't.
