Pastor Tim Thompson and his staff decided to turn their church into emergency housing for people who'd lost their homes to Hurricane Katrina. About 25 people from the Gulf Coast stayed in the church for weeks or months, about half were African American. But a year and a half later, almost all of the dozen or so guests had gone back home or moved on to places like Louisville or Lexington. All except David Sloan, who we heard at the top of the piece cutting his friend's hair, David came to Corbin from Biloxi.
