Paglia's Sexual Personae
Paglia skyrocketed to fame in 1990 after the publication of Sexual Personae, her 700-page treatise tracking what she refers to as pagan sexuality. Some of her art criticism is really good, and I think her celebration of the carnal in art and popular culture is extremely necessary. But she is also a biological determinist, which has let her to say a lot of confusing and wrong-headed stuff about trans issues,. even while claiming that she herself identifies as trans.
