Bob Greene: How do we slow down and live with Jesus? He says the early church came up with what they called a rule of life. It was popularized by St. Benedict in 527 in Italy when he wrote up his rule of life for his brand new monastic order. Greene: Rule of life goes back at least as far as St. Patrick and the Celts likely far before to the second century, if not even earlier.
