It sounds to me as if you relish the challenge of someone engaging with your work. Do you like being challenged though? Because you went to Cambridge and obviously there is this sort of tutorial system where you are required to write an essay and then be challenged on it. When I was there, yes, and go to all that many tutorials. But yeah, being asked to defend something that you've written was good. And it sharpened you up at that age 19 or something.
