The Differences Between Narrative and Systems in Games

Games are essentially the same thing. They're still describing a story, but their story is a set of systems that they collided with through play or they manipulated with through play. And because other people have played that game and they understand the systems of that game, they can now see and be like, Oh, I could also tell that story, right? Or I told a version of the story, but it went differently because of how I interacted with that system. It's funny how sometimes there's obviously a lot of times when people have made a narrative and the gameplay is a hard time supporting it. But in Sea of Thieves you often run into this sort of friction between players who were like
