In vedantic meditation, you are not expected to pull your mind back from that something else comes x, y or z all you need to do is so this x y or z im aware because of my consciousness. And what velantha says is, this thought itself is coming in my own awareness, everywhere. Let the mind go anywhere. Let it run th the new york maraton. Wherever it runs. Every thought is arisig in awareness. Is it not? Where else is it arising? It's horriber. After a long practice, it becomes very natural to hold on to the quan. The quani asinthe japanese say.
