To say that we don't really understand the pathophysiology of chicken guinea virus, I think is an understatement. In small animal studies, we see that it's primarily musculoskeletal tissues that are infected by this virus - especially muscles surrounding joints and skin fibroblasts. It doesn't mean that the inflammation will be in the muscles necessarily, but there's also often a lot of muscle pain with chaste on you as well. The estimated case fatality rates for chicken guinea are less than 1%.
