Sweden asked to join the military alliance last year after decades of neutrality. Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said he would block Sweden's membership unless it gave him a bunch of concessions like extraditing Turkish nationals who were accused of aiding militant groups in Turkey. So it seemed like Sweden joining NATO might not happen until Monday when abruptly he dropped his demands.
