The Samaritan and the Priesthood of the Old Testament

Augustine's just basically walking through the parables, that by still, giving symbolic meanings. He's essentially plugging it into the narrative of Genesis 1 through 3. But in a very direct way, the man is Adam. Jerusalem is heavenly Jerusalem. Jericho is him going to the place of mortality. Getting robbed on the way is what the devil does to him. The priest and the Levite who saw and passed him by signify the priesthood and the ministry of the Old Testament which could profit nothing for salvation.
