Is Star Trek the Story of the Future?
Jose Antonio Vargas: Star Trek is really the story of how we build utopia out of our dystopian reality. I think if we think of it as a reflection of perhaps America's self-image or America's anxieties, then I think we can come and look at Star Trek and learn something about how America talks about itself. It's the Star Trek of the greatest generation. And then I think as the show develops, and we're looking at many, many, many versions now, and at the moment there's probably more Star Trek on than ever before. These are all the iterations of the show.
