Docker and Kubernetes were both developed by Google employees. The team was trying to shake things up so that Google has a fighting chance in the cloud space, says Kevin O'Connell. Docker is "half a Borglet," he says; it's about how you create an application with other systems on top of it. It could be used for anything from medical records to financial data or even military operations.
