The Sacrament of the Eucharist
Christ instituted the sacrament of the holy eucharist and went to the extent of changing and overturning nature itself. So when we consider the love with which christ gives himself to us in this sacrament, it inspires our love for him in return. Saint john damisene says that the eucharist is like that burning coal. For a burning coal is not simply wood, but is united to fire. So also, the bread of communion is not simply bread, but united to the divinity.
