The Importance of Intention in Moral Philosophy

In the trolley problem, there's a choice between five lives and one life. And in this case, almost everybody says it's wrong to push the large man or person with the heavy rucksack. But I think that is a useful thought experiment because it does get at some important intuitions that you touched on already have to do with intention. Some of them are completely useless because they're so weird and so kind of so many aspects to them, so many dimensions to them. They're so implausible in almost every way that I think our intuitions no longer hook onto anything of any substance. So if done right, these thought experiments can be helpful.
