In summer of 1978, George Lowe, Jim D'Enini, Michael Kennedy, and the late Jeff Lowe were at the cutting edge of climbing. They were leaving behind the slow and heavy expeditions of the past in favor of an emerging form of alpinism known as alpine style. Small teams climb light and fast, usually in a single push with minimal fixed ropes. The commitment level goes through the roof.
