Milton, I Think Resting With, What if I Was Wrong?
Milton believed monarchy was bad and that we needed a more representative government. But at the end of his life, after his ideals are crushed he is demoralized and defeated. He's willing to entertain publicly as so much as it's in print his own uncertainty or in Paradise Lost but a character who's undone by his hubris which is Satan.
