The Beat on a Hook Fly

Austin: I like to kind of fish two zones that way. What we just described with that egg on the very point and then the split shot five inches up from that. And fair enough, I lose a little bit of strike detection to the egg. But again, the upside is it can look very natural. That's really the primary way that I rig is with it. Yet today they ate at least a third of my fish. They ate the tag up above it was a number 16 beat on a hook fly. So we're talking here about what I call a pure tight line rig. There's nothing in between you and the flies.
