I think fundamentally that we have this compulsive view of the necessity of existence that our culture is distinctly lacking in gaiety. And I feel life is very much something of this nature. It is a play and it is its own end. That is not to say that their goal is the present when you think of the present simply as a hairline on a watch, the immediate instant.
