The Importance of Conservation in Climbing
In a population of 10 million people congregating in the southern part of Ontario, there is no such thing as a non operating park. It's difficult for us to accept that a group that is 100 times smaller or 500 times smaller, being targeted and told that we can't recreate outside because we have negative impacts on cliff side ecology. The moment that you ban something, you're relinquishing control to influence, to regulate, to shape those impacts. And so what choice does the climbing community have other than to resist?
