Sparta and the Oracle of Apollo
Sparta ruled by two hereditary kings from two rival houses. It was one of their oldest and certainly most unusual institutions. They traced this dual kingship back to two great grandsons of heracles, that is, hercules. The god apollo resolutely affirmed that the spartans should keep their two kings.
